Monday 11th May

Life skills – write a lunch menu. Set the table for lunch and take orders from your family. Serve your family and your own food. Clear the table and give your diners a bill. There are Menu templates to download, be careful as there are 17 pages of them, so only print the one you need!

 

Maths – go into the kitchen and find 3 different sized cups/beakers and a measuring jug of water. Look at the beakers can you estimate which one holds the most water. Test out your answer.

 

Reading – read a favourite book or listen to an adult read a book to you.

 

Cooking – make yourself a meal that does not involve cooking eg sandwich and salad.

 

Tuesday 12th May

Maths – find a milk bottle in the fridge. How much milk can it hold? What kind of measurement does it use? Eg litres, grams, cm. Where can you find the information? Compare the bottle to other containers in the kitchen. Which container holds the most and least?

 

English – Watch a video about rainforests.

All pupils – explore the rainforest fruits – banana, mango, pineapple, coconut, lemons, oranges.

Choose the activity which best suits your child’s needs:

Think of words to describe a pineapple. Spell words independently.

Name fruits. Read labels and match them to the correct fruit.

Wednesday 13th May

Maths – decorate the geometric Islamic pattern. Can you make your own pattern with shapes found in your home?

Choose the activity which best suits your child’s needs:

– read the comprehension sheet about the rainforest and answer the questions.

– classify the rainforest animals according to mammals, birds, amphibians and reptiles.

– cut out the animals and make them into stick puppets.

Thursday 14th May

Maths – Capacity work sheets – choose the one that best suits your child’s needs.

 

English – watch video about rainforest animals again. Choose a reptile to write about. Describe the creature and where it lives. Think about the skin, colour, texture. What do you think it eats?

 

Science – Draw a reptile and label the parts of its body.

 

Reading – read a book to an adult to listen to an adult read a book to you

Friday 15th May

 English – label the things and colours you can see in Monet’s water lilies painting. Make your own picture inspired by the water lily painting.

 

Reading – read a book with an adult and spot any rhyming words.

 

Art – Make a 3D picture of a waterlily (see demonstration picture for ideas)
