Sports Day

Monday

Look at the front cover of the book Sports Day. Ask the pupils what they can see. What is the weather like? How do you know that it is raining? What do you think the weather is going to be like in the story? Why? What races might there be?

 

Hard – read the story of the Sports Day and answer literal, inference and deduction questions.

 

Medium – hear the story of the Sports Day and answer literal questions.

Use picture cues to answer questions.

 

Easy– listen to the story of the Sports Day and point out key characters from the story.

Tuesday

Read the story of the Sports Day again and ask questions about the story. What races were there in the story?

 

Hard– Look at the pictures of different races from the story. Write a sentence about each race.

 

Medium – Match names of different races to the appropriate pictures. Copy-write these names.

 

Easy – describe each picture. Answer Who, What doing, What and Where questions.

Match symbols to the appropriate pictures. Choose three favourite races and copy-write their names.
