Week 4 Topic - Playlists - Classic Female Artists

  • Aim: Investigate a female vocalist, where they are from, what was happening in the world at that time
  • Choosing music from a female singer playlist and saying why they like it or not
  • Explore different sounds showing preference

Main:

Listen to the Classic Band playlist at the bottom of the page.

Use your IT skills to search and find them on YouTube or Vevo or listen to them on Spotify (or other music platforms).

Create a spider diagram and comment on

1. Did you like it or not?

2. How did it make you feel?

3. What genre of music do you think it is?

4. Why would you listen/not listen to more of this?

Choose one song and create a mini project – see example Power Point. Include in your project here the band are from, genre, what you think the song is about, the decade/years were formed, discography, a bit of history on the singer and what was happening in the world when they were around? You can use the example from last week to help you with the format.

Watch some of the music videos for the songs you watch. Create your own music video to a female artist song you like and record it. You can use toys or puppets for your video or you can perform in it yourself.

Alternative Activity 1:

Main: Intro – listen to the playlist below.

Discuss with a family member- did you like it? What do you like/dislike about it.

Would you listen to more music like this?

Find a clock or a watch and find the numbers 9 and 5. Can count how many hours of work Dolly Parton has to work in her song?

Watch some of the music videos on YouTube. See of you can make your own music video using toys, or you can act/dance in it yourself.

Alternative Activity 2:

Main: Intro – play the playlist below

Did your child show like or dislike to the song? Where there any songs they enjoyed more than others?

Choose some taps, strokes and squeezes for different genres of music e.g. Fade to Black could include long strokes along the arms and legs. 9 to 5 could have more taps and pats.

Play their favourite songs and dance!
