Last week we were researching information about a reptile of our choice. We used the computer to find a photo of our reptile and we thought of questions that we would like to find out about our reptile. Today, we are going to finalise our reptile profiles and write the answers to our chosen questions.

Parents to share how to use books, reptile profiles and the internet to find answers to our questions.

Activity

Student to choose whether they would like to use the internet, books or reptile profiles to find the answers to their questions.

Group 1: Answer questions using a key word- use colourful semantics.

Group 2: Answer questions using key words- use phonic knowledge to hear initial letter sound for each word.

Group 3: Answer questions using full sentences- use phonic knowledge to spell words. Remember finger spaces and correct punctuation.

Challenge

Can you think of one more question and find the answer using a different source? Write your answer independently.

Is it bigger or smaller than the previous number? Make deliberate mistakes when ordering numerals to see if your child correct you.

Activity

Group 1: Match number cards up to 5. Then match numbers to the correct amount (use resources to help).

Group 2 – Use paper to make cards with numbers on them. Ask your child to randomly pick up a card – recognise and say the number. Identify how many tens and ones in the number – use practical resources to represent this.

Group 2 – explore place value arrow cards to make different two-digit and three-digit numbers. How many 100s, 10s, 1s in each number? How do you know?
