Monday

Morning Activities.

 

 

 

Registration: Sing the good morning songs using signs encouraging them to join in; Sing hello song and then look at days of the week and how the weather. Follow on with ’Wake and shake’ exercise program. (shake your sillies out on you tube)

The Christmas Story Pupils to revisit the Christmas story. Look at the little owl the star story again on YouTube. What happened? Can the pupils talk about the story? Use attached nativity scene colouring page to identify characters.

Activity1

Pupils can explore colour and practise colour identification by choosing and naming colours to colour or paint the picture of the Christmas story scene attached

Activity 2

Pupils can complete the nativity story map activity. Go through each aspect of the Christmas story for pupils to find the right pictures to complete the story.

Challenge

Pupils can practise their writing, by writing labels for each character or creating a sentence for each part of the story using the nativity writing activity sheet.

Afternoon Activities

Christmas Crafts Pupils can start to make some Christmas crafts

Pupils can practise their cutting skills by making some Christmas snowflakes. Cut out a square piece of white paper fold it into four triangles then make snips in the paper. Open it up and what shapes can you see? Pupils can decorate their snowflakes as they like. What materials will you use? Pupils can also try the hand print snow flake.

 

 

Tuesday

Phonics Pupils to engage in phonics learning, We always introduce phonics in the classroom by using the alphabet phonics 2 song on YouTube and use the CVC blending songs so these could be used.

Activity 1

Sensory based phonics, pupils can practise their letter formation in sensory based materials if you have any in a tray, focusing on S A T, P I N making initial sounds. Use finger paints to mark make and make letter shapes. Pupils can engage in sensory activities attached sheet and work on letter recognition and exploration.  Pupils can also use phonics play website under resources and phase 1 sound activities.

Activity 2

Phase 2 phonics, Pupils can work on their object recognition and letter correspondence using initial letter sound sheet, if you have magnetic letters at home pupils can find the correct letter and put in in the top box or an adult can help you write the letter, practising letter formation. When you find the correct letter practise saying the letter sounds. Use phase 2 letter cards to practise your sound knowledge what objects can you find in the house to match the sounds? Got on an object hunt for the initial letter sounds. CVC building words activity sheet can you find the right letters to make the word?

Activity 3

Phase 3 word searches pupils to read and find the words in the word search Pupils to recognise and think about when sounding the words how many sounds are in each word they find.

Pupils to think about how to structure a sentence. Pupils to use attached sentence scramble sheets, to think about how to make a sentence what do we need at start and end of a sentence?

 

 

Tuesday

Afternoon Activities.

Maths Introduce maths activities by using number songs on You tube, counting to 10 or 20 and some number rhyme songs.

Activity 1

Pupils to engage with numbers 1 to 5 sing number rhymes, Use available objects at home for pupils to practise their counting. Can pupils identify how many items they have? Practise number formation in sensory materials. Pupils can complete attached ordering numbers sheet to support number recognition.

Activity 2

Pupils to explore the use of money. Pupils to engage in coin recognition to 10p and use attached coins to make amounts up to 10p. Complete pages 1 to 3 on how much money is in my jar sheet.

Activity 3

Pupils have been starting to explore values of numicon. Pupils to complete addition sheet to 10 using numicon. Pupils to explore how numbers change when added together. Pupils to try and write numbers of each numicon to build knowledge of writing a number sentence. Pupils can also try and work out the answers using counters or objects you have at home, seeing how amounts change when select number is added. Challenge addition cards also included.

 

Practise writing your numbers to 5, to 10 or 20.

 

Wednesday

Morning Activities

Registration: Sing the good morning songs using signs encouraging them to join in; Sing hello song and then look at days of the week and how’s the weather. Follow on with ’Wake and shake’ exercise program.

Writing and Reading

Pupils can continue using some of the phonics activities visited and practise forming their letters, CVC words or a simple sentence. Pupils can trace letters and words if needed. Pupils can also practise writing their name.

Pupils can engage in practising their reading and books skills. To engage in a story talk about what happened? Or what think might happen? Identify key items in the text. Encourage pupils to answer questions about the text. Pupils to explore texts looking at pictures, holding correct way and turning pages. Pupils to sit and listen with engagement to a story of choice.

Pupils to engage in attached PE plan.

 

Pupils can also access cosmic kid’s yoga on you tube.

 

Thursday

Morning Activities

Christmas Crafts

Pupils to engage in range of Christmas crafts of choice using a paper plate and doing some Christmas printing.

Afternoon Activities

Christmas Cooking

Pupils can practise their life skills and use of equipment supported by an adult engaging in cooking some ginger bread people.

 

Pupils can design how they want their ginger bread man to look by using the ginger bread man template sheet. What will they look like? How many eyes does your man need? How many buttons? What colour icing would you like to use to decorate your gingerbread man?
