Ifield Woodland

Ifield Woodland is a magical retreat where pupils from local schools and members of the local community, particularly those with emotional difficulties, can escape the urban environment into a relaxing and calming place. The woodland will be used solely for the purposes of education, but in its broadest possible sense, from formal education through to group and personal social education and development. It will allow participants to review, reflect, relax and concentrate on their informal social development in a novel environment that will facilitate close working between families and professionals from a range of disciplines.

The management of the woodland will focus on creating this magical retreat and at the same time improve the site's environmental and formal educational value. The development and management of the site is in recognition of the contribution that environmental sustainability, and direct contact with the environment makes to the general quality of an individuals interaction with their peers and community.

It can be found on ex-commercial coppiced woodland situated to the south of the village of Cobham, and to the east of Meopham, in the borough of Gravesham, in North West Kent. Ifield School owns the freehold to the site and has right of access to the existing paths.
