It is clear that schools are keen to learn more about specific areas of AEN. Requests are made almost on a daily basis from local schools for help. advice and assistance for various needs. The Centre is able to provide professional books which cover Autism and Asperger's Syndrome, ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Dyscalculia, Language and Communication difficulties, Down's Syndrome and Behaviour management, along with the latest publications on Educational Kinesiology, Learning Styles and Multiple Intelligences. The Centre also subscribes to several different AEN organisations, namely, The National Autistic Society, The Dyslexia Association, the AFASIC (supporting young people with speech, language and communication impairment), AWCEBD (Association of Workers with Children with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties), the National Children's Bureau, Special Needs Information Press and NASEN (The National Association for Special Educational Needs); Ifield Smile receives their latest information and journals which visitors are welcome to use.
From comments received from visitors, it is apparent that many schools have limited games and other multi-sensory resources; these are often expensive, and may only be useful to a small number of children. Ifield Smile has tried to address this need by purchasing and stocking these types of resources for use by schools. These additional resources are proving to be much appreciated by Gravesham Schools. Due to demand, further programmes and games to promote good behaviour and other social skills are being purchased.
