Post 16
The Ifield 16-19 provision was established at North West Kent College, Gravesend in September 2006 with students from Ifield and Rowhill schools. The programme is designed to meet the needs of those students for whom a college course would be too great a step and focuses on providing students with the necessary skills to move on to a college course, vocational training placement or supported employment when they are ready.
The aims of the programme are:

Curriculum Organisation
The Post-16 curriculum is arranged into five strands: Key Skills, Independent Living Skills, Community and Cultural Skills, Work-related Learning and Creative Expression & Physical Development. It is designed to be progressive over the three years of the programme and is
personalised to the individual needs and abilities of each student. Year 12 focuses on Independent Living skills; Year 13 focuses on Community skills and Citizenship. Year 14 will focus on Preparation for Work.
Students set their own ILP targets three times each year: one each for Key Skills, Independent Living and Preparing for Work. They have timetabled sessions to work on individual targets as well as group skills sessions. Students are encouraged to learn to work together by the pattern of groupings for sessions. Tutor groups and Options groups are inclusive, crossing all age and ability boundaries. Certificate work is undertaken in year groups and Key Skills groups are organised by ability, to allow work to be more closely targeted to individual needs.
