Welcome to Oak Class

There are 10 children in Oak Class and six teaching assistants; Tina, Angela, Carolyn, Nav, Emma and Chantel. We are a very busy and happy class who love coming to Ifield School to learn and play with our friends!
In Oak Class we work hard to be organised and like routines and structures to help us learn and develop our skills.  We have been very busy since September reading lots of texts with repetitive phrases, such as ‘My Dad’ and comparing well-known stories, like the Gingerbread Man and the Stinking Cheeseman. We have enjoyed singing lots of counting and shape songs and rhymes, including 20 shiny crackers sitting in a box (based on the more familiar 10 fat sausages…!)
We really enjoy making and creating different recipes and have been lucky to taste lots of different things saying whether these are yummy or yucky (most are yummy!)
Oak Class love music with Miss Boyd and getting healthy with Mr. Gardner in PE. In Term 1 Oak Class loved going to the Cygnet Centre for PE Enrichment, while in Term 2 the chance to develop our gross motor skills at MEAPA Gym was great fun!
In Term 2 we visited Maidstone Museum to play with and learn about some toys from the past. We had a great time!
Our Themes for this Academic Year are the following:
Term 1: Ourselves
Term 2: Toys that move
Term 3: Space
Term 4: My Environment
Term 5: Fantasy Stories
Term 6: Carnivals
