Welcome to Cedar Class
In Cedar class we learn through play. We work to the Early Years curriculum: Development Matters which covers seven areas of learning. These are:
Personal, social and emotional development (PSED); Communication and Language (CL); Physical Development (PD); Mathematics (M); Understanding the World (UW) and Expressive Arts (EA).
This year we will be visiting the seven areas of learning through different topics:
Term 1 Nursery Rhymes; Term 2 Autumn/Light and dark; Term 3 Toys; Term 4 Growth and Change; Term 5 Mini-beasts and Term 6 Holidays.
In order for all the children to reach their full potential we use a multi-sensory approach to teaching and learning. The children enjoy cooking, Write Dance, ‘messy’ play, sensory stories and using their developing skills through small world and role play. The children have the opportunity to explore and investigate a wide range of different materials. They have hydro-pools sessions and time in the sensory room. We take the children’s learning into our school woodland, visits to the Meapa gym and horse riding. We also arrange different trips to support learning through topics; examples have included a visit to the toy museum, a farm and the seaside. We have lots of fun but we learn lots too!
